Horse saddles
Horse saddles are made in several different varieties.
There are two main categories, English and Western, but there are variations
on each. Western saddles are generally made to be comfortable on long
rides.
Western horse saddles are designed to be “working” saddles.
They were designed for moving herds of cattle over vast areas, which
required the cowboy to be in the saddle for long periods of time. One
of the most recognizable aspects of the western saddle is the saddle
horn.
The lack of a saddle horn is easy identifier of English horse saddles.
These saddles generally have a much deeper seat than does a western
saddle. The saddle flaps are often made from suede, which is easily
gripped by the suede on English riding pants, providing added security
from slippage.
